Job Title:  Outside Sales Representative

 

Location:  Headquartered in Vernon, Alabama (weekly travel across Alabama and Mississippi)

Midstates Petroleum Company is looking for an Outside Sales Representative to join our rapidly growing C-store industry company.

 

As an Outside Sales Representative a typical day may include:

  • Sets and executes appointments with potential dealers, including cold calling

  • Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet.

  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers.

  • Submits orders in a timely manner using company-supplied price lists and product literature.

  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses

  • Daily travel to multiple retail locations (occasional overnight)

  • Keeping accurate and complete record of daily activities

  • Assisting management in executing goals and targets

  • Servicing existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets.

  • Maintaining customer database

  • Responding to customer inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically and in person

 

This job might be right for you if:

  • At least three years of sales experience (preferred; ideally in selling to c-stores/gas stations)

  • Understanding of the retail business, ideally c-stores/gas stations

  • Successful experience with cold calling, both in person and over the phone

  • Experience/history of previous successful sales positions

  • Strong organizational and communications skills

  • Self-driven, results oriented

  • Ideal candidate would have convenience or gas station knowledge

  • Have a minimum of a year of experience in sales in a business-to-business environment

  • Have the ability to multitask and work within a fast-paced environment

  • Have excellent written and verbal skills

  • Are a positive, self-starter who is professional and polite

  • Have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Products, Windows and internet

  • Have ability to be assertive and persuasive

  • Have a valid driver’s license

  • Have an excellent diving record

  • Knowledgeable of the principles and practices of sales

  • Have great customer service skills

  • Have the proven ability to achieve sales targets

  • Have self-confidence and great presentation skills
